Vijayawada to host National TT from October 4

Vijayawada, Sep 7 (UNI) A National Table Tennis tournament would be held in the city next month.

Talking to UNI here today, Kadapa District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA) official said the tournament would be held from October 4 and as many as 600 players across the country would participate in the event, he added.

He said Andhra Pradesh Table Tennis Association has allotted the prestigious national ranking championship to KDTTA.

The Commonwealth Champion and top-seed Achanta Sharath Kamal, among others, would take part in the first national ranking tournament.

The championship would be played on eight new stag deluxe tables and the prize money at stake would be Rs four lakh.

Events would be held for men and women in various categories.

The performance of players in this tournament would entitle them for selection in the national team for international events, the official added.

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) appointed S Oberoi as Chief Referee for the championship.
