Underworld don turned MLA Arun Gawli attends IMC centenary

Mumbai, Sept 7 (UNI) Underworld-don-turned politician Arun Gawli, who is at present an MLA from Chinchpokli, today created a sensation by staging a entry in the hall where the centenary celebrations of the Indian Merchants Chamber was in progress, here.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh was delivering his speech when a smiling Gawli clad in a white pyjama-shirt and donning a white cap on his head, entered the hall of the five star hotel along with his associates and sat in the second row.

He was followed by photographers and media crew, who went in a flurry clicking snaps and recording video-footage. After the function was over, Gawli had a cup of tea and left the hall, waving at the photographers.

When asked, the secretary general of IMC P N Mogre told UNI that the IMC had given invitations to all the MPs and MLAs of the city, and in that process Gawli was also invited as he represents the Chinchpokli constituency.
