TRS to launch shankaravam struggle for Telengana
Siddipet (Andhra Pradesh), Sep 7: The stage is set for the Telangana Rashtra Samiti's (TRS) 'Samara Shankaravam' here tomorrow to give a fillip to the movement for a separate statehood.
After failing to convince the Congress, TRS chief K Chandrasekara Rao, who had observed a hunger strike at 'Jantar Mantar' in New Delhi soon after his resignation as Union Labour Minister, will blow the conch to mark the beginning of a relentless struggle to achieve the objective.
The party supremo would explain to the people, who are expected to turn out in large numbers for the meeting from all over the region, about the TRS's efforts in the last two-and-a-half years to garner support for the demand and the Congress' attitude towards the issue, party sources said.
Led by Mr Rao and Mr A Narendra, party MPs, MLAs, functionaries and activists would take a vow during the meet to intensify the agitation for the formation of a seperate Telangana state by mobilising the support of people.
The meeting was only a beginning of a series of meetings to exert pressure on the ruling Congress in the Telangana region to take up the matter with the party high command, they added.
