Students sung 'Vande Mataram' to mark its Centenary

Pondicherry, Sep 7 (UNI) Students of all Government schools here today sang 'Vande Mataram' to mark the Centenary celebration of its adoption as the national song.

The Education Department here had sent a Circular to all Government schools to sing it today and accordingly all students were asked to assemble in the grounds of the respective schools, where the national song was sung.

The students of several private schools here also sung the song.

The Office-bearers of the Pradesh Congress Committee(PCC) had organised a function at the party office to sing Vande Mataram to mark the occasion.

The State Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Agriculture Minister V Vaithilingam, PCC President P Shanmugham, municipal chairpersons, councillors and several party functionarties participated in the function.
