Sensex down by 80 points in intra-noon trade

Mumbai, Sept 7: The BSE Sensex today came down from the previous highs to trade 80 points below the last close, as the global cues weakened and the profit booking took control of the Sensex.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex) is currently trading at 11,852.57 points compared to the previous close of 11,933.21 points.

Earlier the Sensex opened 40 points below the last close on account of weak global bourses affected by fears of possible US interest rate hike.

The global crude oil price, however, has come down to USD 67 per barrel mark from the high of US dollar 78.5 per barrel mark last month.

All the sectoral indices on the BSE except consumer durables sector, are trading in red during the intra-noon trade.

Major gainers are HDFC, Reliance Communications, L&T and Tata Motors all up from 0.17 to 0.35 per cent.

Major losers are - Bajaj Auto, Cipla, ITC, Wipro, HDFC Bank, Reliance Energy, Gujarat Ambuja Cement, Satyam Computers, SBI and Ranbaxy, all down from 1.08 to 2.10 per cent.
