Sanchaya Post launched in K'taka postal circle

Bangalore, Sep 7 (UNI) The Department of Posts launched 'Sanchaya Post - Cash at Your Door' scheme, which facilitated depositors of Senior Citizens Savings Scheme and Monthly Income Scheme to receive cash at their doorstep, in the Karnataka Postal Circle here today.

Launching the service, its Secretary and Director General Jyotsna Diesh said the scheme, launched recently in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, would soon cover the entire country for the benefit of over 16 crore people who have deposited over Rs 3.75 lakh crore in savings bank accounts in 1.54 lakh post offices.

She also inaugurated the Seminar Hall, built with a seating capacity of 130 on the General Post Office premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Circle Chief Post Master General Meera Datta said 'Sanchaya Post' would be initially available in all the seven head post offices, 11 main post offices and 236 sub-post offices in the city, besides in 53 head post offices and 30 main post offices in the rest of the State.

In Karnataka Circle, 89 lakh account holders could benefit from the new scheme. To avail the facility, the depositors must be residing within the delivery area of the post office where they had Savings Bank accounts and if not, they should transfer their accounts to their respective post office delivery area.

She said the department had started e-payment services in over 60 post offices, where bills of all mobile service providers, including BSNL, would be accepted.
