Rio invites PM to visit Nagaland
Kohima, Sep 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is likely to visit Nagaland by this yearend or early next year to inaugurate a Sainik School at Pungiwa in Nagaland's Peren district.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu told a news conference at Dimapur yesterday that he has invited the Prime Minister to come and lay the foundation stone at Kohima Campus of Nagaland University.
He said Dr Singh was keen to visit Nagaland, for which Mr Rio has given a written invitation to the PM to inaugurate the Sainik School.
During his meeting with the prime minister on Tuesday evening, Mr Rio also briefed him on various initiatives of the state government.
The Nagaland government has decided to make the Sainik operational from the next academic year, where the Defence Ministry has already arranged for the Principal of the school. The Principal will be stationed at Dimapur. The Sainik School at Poilwa is going to be the first ever educational institution of its kind in the region.
