Rally to mark Vande Mataram centenary

Raipur, Sep 7 (UNI) Chorus singing and massive rallies marked the centenary of national song Vande Mataram in Chhattisgarh today.

In the state capital, Culture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal led a rally of folk artistes, actors and students. At Jaistambh, where the rally concluded, the national flag was hoisted and a competition in singing the national song was held.

School Education Minister Megharam Sahu took part in Vande Mataram recital at a convent. He is scheduled to attend a recital at a Madrasa later in the day.

An official spokesman claimed about 50 lakh students recited the national song in schools and Madrasas across the state.
