Nokia, Reliance to offer sub 2k range handset
New Delhi, Sept 7: Telecom services providers Reliance Communications and Nokia today joined hands to market Nokia 1255 mobile handset for a market price of Rs 1,999.
''The Indian telecom sector is currently witnessing an unprecedented growth curve and a mobile phone has become a multifunctional device. This association with Nokia aims to further enhance our superior value offerings, both in terms of service experience as well as functionality, at affordable prices to customers,'' Reliance Communications President Wireless Business S P Shukla said.
This is Nokia's maiden offer of a CDMA handset in the sub 2K range (below Rs 2000).
''We are confident that our alliance with Reliance Communications to promote the Nokia 1255 at a never before price point, will be well received by our discerning customers,'' Nokia India Director (Sales) Sunil Dutt said.
In addition to its superior voice capabilities and easy to use Nokia user interface, the 80-gram black and white handset has built in productivity enhancing tools such as two-way hands free speakerphone, voice recorder and a calendar with an alarm clock.
The phone delivers upto four hours of talk time and upto 10 days of standby time.
Additional features on the Nokia 1255 handset are, built-in games, 20 ring tones, selection of user-selectable screen savers, 250 contact phonebook, text messaging, stopwatch and an internal vibrating alert.
