Nikkei opens down 0.9 pct as techs, Sony hit
TOKYO, Sep 7 (Reuters) The Nikkei average fell 0.92 percent at the opening on Thursday as Advantest Corp. and other tech issues tracked losses in similar U.S. shares and Sony Corp. fell due to a delay in the European launch of its video game console.
The Nikkei was down 149.93 points at 16,134.16 at 0005 GMT, extending a decline of 0.62 percent in the previous session. The broader TOPIX index fell 0.86 percent to 1,628.66.
Sony was down 2.4 percent at 4,930 yen after it said on Wednesday it would delay the European launch of its PlayStation 3 (PS3) game machine to March from November due to inadequate supply of a key component, while chip testing device maker Advantest fell 1.47 percent to 11,380 yen.
