New rules for passenger vehicles in Mizoram

Aizawl, Sep 7 (UNI) The Mizoram government has decided to introduce a new regulation for taxis and autos with effect from September 15.

While all taxis having registration numbers that end in even numbers will ply on Monday and others with registration ending in odd numbers will ply on Tuesday.

The transport authorities have asked traffic police officials to implement the order in areas where taxis and autos ply.

State Transport department officials here said today that despite stiff opposition from various unions, the government will go ahead and implement the orders from next week.

The fast growing number of vehicles, both public and private, has forced the government to introduce the new traffic system.
