NERGA Implementation successful in N E states

Shillong, Sep 7 (UNI) The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) has been successfully implemented in the North Eastern States.

A communique issued here today said the highest number of job cards were issued in Asom, followed by Tripura, Mizoram and the other states.

The number of persons provided employment was the highest in Tripura, followed by Asom, Manipur and the other N.E. states, the statement added.

The NREGA was launched on February 2 last in 200 backward districts of 27 states. Out of 89.43 lakh persons who have demanded employment under the Act, 83.05 lakh have been provided with jobs in the country so far.
