Interstate gangster apprehended

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) Dreaded interstate gangster Shahadat, wanted in several cases of murder and dacoity, has been apprehended after a shoot out from South Delhi's Kalindi Kunj area, police said today.

Shahadat, a member of the Ayub-Aslam Choota Inam gang active in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended yesterday by the sleuths of Crime Branch.

The accused was declared a proclaimed offender in 8 cases.

Police recovered one .315 bore country- made pistol along with two live and one used cartridges.

Shahadat and his accomplice were on way to Okhla in a car when police tried to flag it down. The accused tried to sped away but the car was rendered immobile by the police.

Then, his accomplice tried to flee and opened fire on the police. The accused was apprehended after a shoot out.

However, his accomplaice managed to escape.

Further investigations are in progress.
