HC judges to inspect Oval grounds
Mumbai, Sep 7 (UNI) Two Bombay High Court judges R M Lodha and S A Bobde will inspect the Oval Maidan here tomorrow following complaints that the Dilip Vengsarkar Academy had put up tents there but not removed them despite court orders and the Academy's application seeking permission to construct a changing room.
The court today heard a public interest litigation filed by the Organisation of Verdant Ambience and Land (OVAL) Trust against the Academy alleging that the latter had put up tents and left materials and equipments, used for practice sessions, despite a 1999 court order directing their removal.
The Academy's counsel, meanwhile, sought permission today to construct temporary changing-rooms and toilets on the ground and also sought permission to leave the sight-screens on the ground after the practice sessions.
The Academy has sought permission to construct a 20x40 changing room which the court held was too big. But, the court allowed the Academy to put up a temporary structure in the meanwhile before the two judges inspect the ground themselves and decide on the application.
