Government acceptable to octroi abolition: CM

Mumbai, Sep 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said his government has accepted to abolish octroi.

Speaking at a centenary celebration function of the Indian Merchants Chamber here today, Mr Deshmukh said the matter is in the final stages of resolution.

The State Government had appointed a committee, headed by Finance Secretary Subodh Kumar, to find an alternative for octroi and the committee has recently submitted its report.
