Five students held for ragging

Srikakulam, Sep 7 (UNI) Police today arrested five students of an information technology institute at Rajam in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on charges of ragging.

Police today said some senior students of the institute had allegedly sexually assaulted two junior students yesterday. On a complaint by the victims, police arrested the five students while another was at large.

A cellphone was also seized from the accused.

Srikakulam Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar Singh appointed Deputy Superintendent of Police to conduct an inquiry into the incident.

The arrested students were sent to King George Hospital Visakhapatnam for medical tests, police said.

Cases were registered under ragging Act 1997, police added.
