CII cautions against new labour policy
Indore, Sep 7(UNI) Madhya Pradesh chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry has strongly advocated formulation of new labour policy in the state after sufficient deliberations amongst the industry, government and labour.
CII, in a release, said that sometime back a draft policy was circulated by the Government to various industry bodies inviting their suggestions and recommendations. While these suggestions had been forwarded by many associations, incorporation of such suggestions is not clear in the proposed policy. Ideal situation would have been re-circulation of the draft policy by the Labour Department after its incorporation so that possibilities of erroneous provisions would be avoided, CII added.
CII, on its part, has been advocating a pro-productivity policy to tackle these issues. With the acknowledgement of the potential of Madhya Pradesh to become a developing state recently, a progressive labour policy is an integral part of the planning process as a progressive policy will be playing a critical role in further strengthening the industrial and economy growth process. A limited vision is likely to hamper this.
CII is of the view that Madhya Pradesh could become an attractive proposition for the investing community and in the process, reap long-term benefits for the overall economy, by adopting a proactive approach towards labour reforms and move from pro-labour approach to productive approach.
