Cancel illegal appointments or face agitation: NGOs

Itanagar, Sept 7: Supporting the demand of All Arunachal Pradesh Supervisors (ICDS) and Extension Officers (WCS) Welfare Association (AAPSEOWA), other NGOs today demanded scrapping of all illegal appointments in social welfare, women&child development (SWW&CD) department within 15 days or face agitation.

Addressing a press conference, Arunachal Citizens' Right (ACR) chairman Bamang Anthony claimed that 17 illegal appointments were made depriving the seniors in the department due for promotion as well as deserving and genuine candidates through direct recruitment by Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).

There should be no bandh calls and the democratic movement, if taken up after the expiry of the ultimatum, should not affect the masses, Mr Anthony added.

About 9,000 applicants had been received by APPSC for the APCS vacancies indicating the growing unemployment problem of the state, he said and demanded the resignation of SWW&CD Minister Lombo Tayeng on moral ground.

Alleging that all appointments were made through back door and political backing, AAPSEOWA general secretary Joram Papa sought the involvement of all sections in their fight against injustice, which was endorsed by Arunachal College Forum president Patey Tayum.
