Buses to go on indefinite strike from September 16
Kochi, Sep 7 (UNI) Protesting against diesel price hike and alleged indifferent attitude of the government towards the transport sector, private buses owners would go on indefinite strike from September 16.
Talking to newspersons here today, T Gopinath of the All Kerala Bus Operators Organisation and Khaleed Mundapally of the Kerala State Private Bus Owners Federation said they had decided to go on an indefinite strike to demand resolution of issues plaguing the sector.
The demands include government subsidy in student concession, exempting private buses from diesel price hike, exempting buses from installing speed governors, reduction in vehicle tax and providing all benefits the Kerala State Road Trnsaport Corporation (KSRTC) had.
In a separate statement, the coordination Committee of Lorries, Tanker Lorries, LPG and Container Lorries Owners Association said they would go on an indefinite strike from September 15 to protest against the government's directions that speed governors should be installed in all heavy vehilces before November 20.
