APEC needs to push global trade talks - Paulson

HANOI, Sep 7 (Reuters) US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said on Thursday finance ministers gathering for an Asia-Pacific summit should use their influence to push governments to restart stalled global trade liberalisation talks.

''I can't think of anything... that can have a more positive impact on the global economy than trade liberalisation,'' Paulson told reporters before meeting other finance ministers of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Hanoi.

The so-called Doha round collapsed in July after disagreements on agricultural subsidies.
