53 miners feared trapped in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Sep 6 (UNI) At least 53 people were feared trapped inside a Bharat Coke and Coal Limited (BCCL) mine at Bhat-Dhi near here due to water-logging after an explosion inside the mine today.

According to official sources, after a detonation near one of the walls inside-- water entered the mine and flooded it.

''About 53 miners are feared trapped inside,'' the sources added.

BCCL CMD Partho Bhattacharya confirmed the report.

A rescue team has left Dhanbad for Bhat-Dhi to undertake rescue operation.
