5 per cent DA hike for central govt employees

New Delhi, Sep 7 (UNI) The Cabinet today increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of central government employees by five per cent effective from July 1.

The DA now goes up to 29 per cent from the existing 24 per cent, a cabinet spokesprson said after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

The increase will also be applicable to pensioners.

The burden on the exchequer for the full financial year because of the DA increase will be Rs 2,787.15 crore, the spokesperson said.

For the current year, it will be Rs 1,858.15 crore.
