4 devotees drown during Ganesh idol immersions in Rajkot

Rajkot, Sep 7 (UNI) Four devotees drowned during Ganesh idol immersion in Rajkot district in two seperate incidents, official sources said today.

According to fire brigade sources, in the first incident 25 devotees from Parsananagar area had gone to Aaji dam, on the outskirts of the city in a tractor for Ganesh idols immersion yesterday, when two of the four members who entered the water for immersion slipped and drowned.

Later in the evening, divers of the fire brigade staff fished out the bodies from the dam, sources said.

The deceased have been identified as - Kirit Solanki and Pradipbhai Vadodara, sources said.

The second incident took place in Jamkandorana where two teenaged boys drowned in Bhadar river during Ganesh Idol immersion procession.

Several devotees of Jamkandorana took out the Ganesh Idol immersion procession from the town to Bhadar river where the two boys drowned. The deceased have been identified as-Rajni Baldha and Rajnish alias Valo Radadia.

Bodies were fished out from the river at night, sources said.
