3 militants, police constable killed in Kashmir

Baramulla, Sept 7: Security forces gunned down three militants in a night-long fierce encoutner while ultras shot dead a constable of the state police, official sources said.

Acting on troops specific information, cordoned off forest area in Rajwara area of Handwara in north Kashmir yesterday afternoon to nab militants sources informed.

As the troops were sealing the woods, militants attacked with automatic weapons and hurled grenades at them.

The troops retaliated, killing three militants in the night-long encounter. Three AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.

Security forces launched a massive search in the nearby forest area, they said.

Sources said militant shot dead a selection grenade constable of Jammu and Kahmir police Abdul Gaffar at Kralgund village last night.
