Water shortage: PHE appeals for judicious use, storage

Jammu, Sep 6 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government, on behalf of PHE department, today made a fervent appeal to the people residing in the city to use water judiciously as also properly store it in wake of the alternate supply to these areas.

The PHE spokesperson said the alternate supply would continue to these areas till the ten bore-wells are constructed as also the damaged filtration plant at Sitlee is recommissioned.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has already announced a grant of Rs two crore for digging up of ten bore-wells to cater to the drinking water requirements of the people living in old Jammu city and other areas which are being fed by Sitlee Filtration Plant.

The spokesperson said as per experts and engineers, the ten bore-wells would be commissioned within a span of 30 days, till which period water would be supplied on alternate days only.
