US, China discussed warning N.Korea against nuclear test

BEIJING, Sep 6 (Reuters) China and the United States have discussed warning North Korea against conducting a nuclear test, US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said in Beijing today.

Hill, speaking to reporters after meeting Wu Dawei, China's chief diplomat in charge of negotiations with North Korea, said he had no clear information to substantiate reports that Pyongyang might be preparing to test a nuclear device.

''We discussed the danger that the DPRK could take additional, provocative steps,'' Hill said, referring to North Korea. ''We talked about the need to make very clear to the DPRK that this would be a very, very unwelcome development.'' REUTERS DH PM0753
