Transfer power to local bodies: CPI
Vijayawada, Sep 6 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today demanded the Congress-led Andhra Pradesh Government to transfer powers to the local bodies as enriched by 73rd and 74th constitutional amendment.
Addressing a workshop of mptcs, zptcs, panchayat sarpanches and corporators of krishna and guntur districts here, CPI state secretary K Narayana opposed the move to close down the loss making cooperative banks.
He suggested the government to make recovery the amount from the depositors instead of closing them.
Mr Narayana said the party cadre would stop the setwin bus services from operating in Hyderabad tomorrow. The setwin bus services was recently launched in the twin-cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
He criticised the Government decision to operate the services as it would cause loss to APSRTC.
He alleged that it was part of privatisation of various cooperatives and corporations in the state.
He demanded the Government to release a special package to the backward Telangana region and implementation of GO 610 which aims at recruiting locals and transfers in the Telangana region.
