Tragedy averted in Kashmir; IED detected

Srinagar, Sep 6 (UNI) Security forces today averted a tragedy in north Kashmir when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) fitted in a pressure cooker, official sources said.

They said a security force patrol noticed a pressure cooker lying on the roadside near the Tehsil office on the Stadium road in Bandipora area of Baramulla district this afternoon.

On search, the pressure cooker was found to be fitted with an IED, the sources said, adding a Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately summoned.

The squad later defused the IED without causing any damage.
