Chandigarh, Sep 6 (UNI) Monsoon turned weak in the north-west India as only few areas in the region received rain during the past 24 hours.

The Sun played hide and seek as clouds hovered at many places in the region during the day.

Moderate rain occured in some areas in Haryana with Karnal recording 7.8 mm and Nelokheri 4.4 mm donwpour till this morning.

However, rains eluded Punjab.

Light to moderate rain occured in some areas in Himachal Pradesh since last night, bringing a considerable fall in the temperature.

Dhundi recorded 7.0 mm downpour overnight, followed by Solang Nullah in Kullu district 6.6 mm, Pandoh in Mandi district 6.0 and Kalpa in Kinnaur district 2.7 mm. Bhuntar recorded 0.3 mm and Sunderngar trace till this morning.

Tribal districts of Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur and Pangi and Bharmour areas in Chamba district reeled under low temperatures following snowfall in higher reaches recently.

Chandigarh and its adjoining areas were lashed by rain after an overcast sky during the day. However, the maximum temperature in the city remained static at 34.6 degrees celsius.

The Met Office said moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers were likley to occur at few places in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours.
