Manipur police question students about links with UNLF

Coimbatore, Sep 6 (UNI) About 14 Manipuri students, including one girl, were questioned by Manipur police here in connection with the arrest of banned United National Liberation Front(UNLF) General Secretary Ibotombi alias Tombi here yesterday.

The Manipur students, who spoke on condition of anonymity told reporters that they were yet to recover from the shock.'' They charged that they were ''taken to the station at the gun point'', where Manipur S P Dhanakumar Singh, questioned them whether they had any links with the UNLF leader.

However, when the police were satisfied that they did not have any links with the terrorist group, they let them off.

The students said because of the interrogation, the owners of the houses at Kuniamuthur on the outskirts of the city where they were staying, asked them to vacate immediately.

They said they had come here for their studies.

The banned UNLF General Secretary Ibotombi alias Tombi (55) along with his assistant Salam Bune (30) was arrested yesterday in a private hospital, where he had gone for medical treatment.
