Islam Gym shocks ECC 'A'; keep quarters hopes alive

Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) Islam Gymkhana 'B' shocked Elphinstone CC 'A' to keep their hopes alive in the ClearPR-Vijay Group-sponsored Sandesh Memorial Mumbai Billiards&Snooker League today.

Islam Gymkhana beat ECC 'A' 3-2 in a thrilling Super League encounter in Group 'H' to enhance their chances of making it to the quarter-finals.

Bombay Gymkhana 'C' scraped into the quarter-finals from Group 'F' after sending Catholic Gymkhana crashing to their second defeat in the group with a 3-0 win. Debutantes Poona Club, who beat Catholic Gymkhana in the opener, is the other team that made it to the last eight from the group.

Phillip Daniels of CRMI fired a billiards break of 32, while Cyrus Mistry got a break of 43 for ECC 'B'.

The field remains wide open in the Super League. The top two teams in each group qualify for the quarter-finals.
