Ganesha idols immersed amid tight security

Mumbai, Sep 6 (UNI) Idols of Lord Ganesha were immersed since early this morning here amid tight security thereby drawing the 11-day festivities to a close .

About 100 Close Circuit Cameras were fixed across strategic and sensitive areas to maintain an eagle's eye on the movement of people and traffic. In addition, 150 roads have been turned into uni-directional so as to facilitate easy movement of devotees proceeding for immersion, sources in the he traffic police said.

However, authorities in the Traffic department have issued guidelines to Ganpati mandals to support the police in facilitating faster immersion of their deities idol's to pave way for normal traffic flow.

The traffic department has divided several wider roads in the city and the suburbs for faster movement of vehicles and small mandals to avoid major traffic jams, the sources added.
