Four militants killed, arms seized in J
Srinagar, Sep 6 (UNI) Security forces killed four militants and seized arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.
Security forces killed a militant during an encounter at Chak Churatram village in Kunzar area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district early today.
A police official was also wounded in the gun-battle, the spokesman said, adding some arms and ammunition were seized from the the slain ultra.
In another encounter at Rajwara near Handwara in Kupwara district security forces killed a militant.
Security forces killed two militants of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen during an encounter at Halmulah Hapatnar in Aishmuqam area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir last evening.
The slain ultras were identified as Mohammad Ayub Khan alias Dawood and Mohammad Amin Khan, the spokesman said, adding two AK assault rifles were seized from them.
He said unknown gunmen shot at and critically wounded an auto-rickshaw driver, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, at main chowk Sopore in Baramulla district last evening.
Dar was immediately rushed to the sub-district hospital, Sopore, from where he was admitted to the SMHS hospital here.
Security forces seized two AK rifles, six magazines, one hand grenade, one electric detonator, one mobile charger, one ear phone and 156 rounds from Ayatmulla in Bandipora area of Baramulla district A 20-hour-long fierce encounter had taken place here on Monday in which three Army personnel, including a Captain, and two militants were killed.
One of the slain ultra was identified as Abu Haider of the banned Lashker-e-Toiba, the spokesman said.
Security forces seized one 7.62 mm pistol, a magazine, 389 rounds of Pika Sniper gun, 34 AK rounds and an RPG round from Mankote in Mendhar area of Poonch district in Jammu region last evening during a search operation.
