Balapur Laddu auctioned for Rs three lakh
Hyderabad, Sep 6 (UNI) The eleven-day Ganesh festival at the ancient Balapur Ganesh temple from where the immersion procession starts, was celebrated with the auction of the Laddu, for Rs three lakhs on the concluding day today.
The Ganesh procession from the Balapur temple started after one Ch Tirupati Reddy purchased the laddu at the traditional auction for Rs three lakhs.
It is widely believed that the laddu brings fortune. Farmers who purchase the massive laddu sprinkle parts of the laddu in their fields for better crop. However, this year, another giant laddu fetched a better price of Rs 4.01 lakh at Maheswaram in neighbouring Rangareddy district.
Police made elaborate arrangements for the immersion ceremony in the wake of reports that ISI was planning a largescale attach in the city.
Entry of vehicular traffic on the Necklase road on the banks of Hussainsagar lake where over 7000 idols were to be immersed has been banned by the city police.
Besides 154 buses run by the APSRTC will ply to transport people to the immersion spot, Metro Rail is operating extra services.
Additional Commissioner of Police A K Khan told mediapersons that all arrangements have been made to ensure law and order and smooth flow of traffic.
