Balaji temple to be closed during lunar eclipse

Tirupati, Sep 6: The lord Venkateswara temple atop Tirumala will be closed for more than eight hours tomorrow during Lunar eclipse.

The world famous Balaji temple would be closed from 1830 hrs to 0140 hrs. Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which administrates the temple said in a press release here today.

The temple doors would be opened at 0140 hrs on September 8 after purification. The priests will perform Suddhi, Punnayavachanam, Pedda Suddhi. Rituals such as Kainkanyalu, Poolangi Samarpana, night bell, Ekannanta seva, Suprabhatahm and other sevas will be performed from 0140 hrs to 0430 hrs.

After performing abishekam to the Lord from 0430 hrs to 0730 hrs, devotees would be allowed for Nijapadha darshan. The Sarvadarsanam to the lord would start from 0930 hrs, the release added.
