1500 cattle perish in Kashmir floods
Srinagar, Sep 6 (UNI) About 1500 cattle have been killed in Kashmir due to floods, an official spokesman said today.
At a high-level meeting here yesterday, Housing and Urban development Minister Tariq Hamid Karra took stock of the flood situation in Kashmir.
The meeting was told that as many as 382 houses have been damaged partially and 731 houses marginally and the Sheep Husbandry department had recorded deaths of 1417 cattle due to floods.
Out of 1213 water supply schemes, 508 have been damaged. About 495 villages comprising 11.90 lakh population was affected and as many as 263 people marooned in flood waters were rescued.
