15 injured in bus-train accident at Akola

Akola, Sep 6: As many as 15 people were injured in an accident involving a State Transport bus and Shakuntala Express train at an unmanned railway crossing near Jamb Phata in this district.

According to railway and police sources, the train hit the rear end of the Murtizapur-bound Akola bus yesterday. The bus overturned injuring 15 people, two of them seriously.

An FIR has been lodged against bus driver Ashok Gopichand Dube under sections 279 and 337 of IPC for negligent driving, police said.

The injured were hospitalised in Laxmibai General Hospital at Murtizapur while one injured Mr Vasant More (resident of village Chandai) was shifted to general hospital here, police added.
