Two youth meet with watery grave

Madikeri, Karnataka, Sep 5 (UNI) Two youth, who ventured into a lake to pluck wild berries from a tree in the middle of the water body, met with a watery grave, at Yelakanur near Somwarpet yesterday.

Police sources said Ranjan and Yogesh, both aged 18, along with Ranjan's brother Jeevan went to the lake to pluck the berries. While Ranjan swam to the tree, the other two waited near the shore as they did not know swimming. After Ranjan finished plucking the berries, he asked the other two to catch it. Yogesh entered the lake up to knee depth and slipped into a deep ditch. Ranjan rushed to his rescue, but both drowned.

Jeevan, who was a witness to the tragedy, ran into the village, seeking help.

The bodies were later fished out.
