South West monsoon active in AP

Hyderabad, Sep 5 (UNI) The South West monsoon has been active over Telangana and rain occurred at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and isolated over Rayalaseema region.

The recorded heavy rainfall in Kaleswaram in Karimnagar district was 11 cm, Yerragondapalem eight cm and Khammam seven cm.

Other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm were Devarakonda 6, Kakinada, Eluru and Tadepalligudem and Sirpur 5, Bapatla, Gudivada, Peddapuram and Rajahmundry 4 cm each.

Meteorological Deparment officials said light to moderate rain and thundershowers were likely to occur at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema in the next 24 hours.
