Sanjoy new NECCC general secretary
Itanagar, Sept 5: Former minister and veteran politician Takam Sanjoy was appointed as general secretary of North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC).
NECCC chairman D D Lapang in an order yesterday appointed Mr Sanjoy with the new responsibility.
Former president of All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) and All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU), Mr Sanjoy served the state in various capacities as cabinet minister in Gegong Apang and Mukut Mithi's governments.
Appreciating AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and Dr Lapang for their efforts to rejuvenate the party in Northeast, Mr Sanjoy expressed his gratitude to them for appointing him to one of the highest post in the region.
Unveiling his priority agenda, Mr Sanjoy told UNI that he would work hard to boost the party activities and would work for fulfilling the promises made to the people by the party in its election manifesto. "With big hope and expectation the NECCC has entrusted responsibility in my shoulder at this critical juncture for rejuvenating various party units in the region, especially in Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim, and I would work hard to fulfill the big task ahead with courage and confidence", Mr. Sanjoy assured.
"I will try to bridge the gap between Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and state units so that Congress could play prominence in the forthcoming assembly and parliamentary polls in the region, the Congress leader disclosed and added that he would try to establish proper coordination between NECCC and North East Youth Congress Coordination Committee (NEYCCC), which was not very operational.
