SAI Kolkatta enter semi-final in Administrator's Cup

Chandigarh, Sep 5 (UNI) Sports Authority of India Kolkatta logged full points as they beat New Public School, Chandigarh 2-0 in the fourth Administrator's Challenge Cup All India Football Tournament for Under-17 here today.

Both the teams were equally balanced and it was a do-and-die battle for them.

It was Asad Khan who drew first blood for SAI in the 33rd minute. In the 83rd minute, Diwakar Thapa rounded off the tally.

With this victory SAI East reserved berth in semi-final from Group C.

In another match, Sanjay Football Academy of Chandigarh edged past Mehar Football Academy, Kurali, 2-1 in a thrilling Group D qualifying league match.

Both the teams exhibited same pattern of play right from the word go. The match was dominated by long high passes.

In the very first minute, Sanjay forward Rajinder scored the first goal off a fine header. Thereafter Sanjay lads exerted more pressure and succeeded in scoring the second goal in 21st minute when Ajay scored with a powerful left footer.

After conceding two goals, Mehar Football Academy lads opened a few good moves and Gurtej scored their first goal in the 31st minute.

Punjab Football Associaton overpowered Services Sports Control Board 2-0 in another match. Both the teams were locked goalless at the breather.

After the lemon break, the Punjab lads came up with fresh energy. It was Amandeep who opened the account for his team in the 83rd minute of play. Baljit Singh scored the second goal for Punjab FA in the dying moments of the game.

Football Academy of Hoshiarpur beat Goa Football Association 6-0 at the Sector 17 Football Stadium.

Gurwinder Singh scored the first goal for Hoshiarpur in the 6th minute. Arun Bhandar scored second and third goals for in the 10th and 42nd minutes.

On resumption, Charanjit Singh scored the fourth goal in the 60th minute. The fifth goal for Hoshiarpur was scored by Mehnga Singh in 65th minute and Arun Bhandar completed the tally for the winners in 80th minute.
