Polio Sunday in MP

Bhopal, Sep 5 (UNI) A special Pulse Polio campaign will be organised on September 10 in Madhya Pradesh's 15 border districts in the wake of several polio cases surfacing in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh this year, official sources said.

The districts are Sagar, Damoh, Panna, Tikamgarh, Katni, Chhattarpur, Gwalior, Datia, Shivpuri, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Sidhi, Rewa and Satna.

The 2006 polio figure is 1,115 and a whopping 258 were from India alone with Uttar Pradesh accounting for 232 while Madhya Pradesh's sole case was detected in Chhatarpur's Rajnagar block. Corresponding figures were Bihar 16, Haryana 4, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Uttaranchal and Maharashtra 1 each.

Children upto the age of five years will be the beneficiaries of the September 10 campaign.
