Mumbai's Akbar Travels post 2nd victory
Aurangabad, Sep 5 (UNI) Mumbai's Akbar Travels, scored a comfortable 2-0 victory over State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) in their second knockout match in the All-India Mayor's Trophy football tournament at the MGM ground here today.
The youthful Mumbai side was superior to their opponents in all departments. They started attacking the rival territory right from the word go. But missed some good chances owing to poor finishing.
However, in the 36th minute, the hardworking striker Joseph Pereira fired the first salvo in a goalmouth melee (1-0). After the change of ends, it was the same story as Akbar Travels called the shots. And in the 51st minute, half back Binoop Kumar's fine lob from the corner flag beat the rival defence and the goalie all ends up (2-0).
The winners, who have qualified for the elite division in Mumbai League this season, could have added a couple of more goals to their tally had they not missed some sitters.
This was Akbar Travels' second win in a row. They had earlier defeated another Hyderabad side, Hyderabad Globe.
