Malayalees celebrate Onam in Pondicherry

Pondicherry, Sep 5 (UNI) Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala was celebrated with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm by the Malayalees in the Union Territory today.

Clad in new clothes, people decorated their houses with flower carpets and the 'Onam Feast' was arranged to mark the occasion.

Pondicherry Kerala Samajam has organised various competitions and cultural programmes to celebrate the festival.

Pondicherry Lt Governor Mukut Mithi, Chief Minister N Rangasamy and leaders of several political parties greeted the people on the occasion.
