Kazhagam appeals TN CM to implement HC direction

Chennai, Sep 5 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary School Vocational Teachers Kazhagam today appealed to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to implement Madras High Court's direction on the petition filed by it.

Kazhagam State General Secretary S N Janardhanan, talking to newspersons here pointed out that in 2004, the High Court had struck down the AIADMK Government's Order (GO No-834) passed against the interest of 1,387 vocational teachers, by reverting them from Time Scale category to Consolidated pay category.

He said despite repeated request to the previous AIADMK and the present DMK Government to implement the court's direction nothing concrete had emerged.

In order to draw the state government's attention to their 18-point charter of demands, the members of the Kazhagam would observe a day's fast here on September seven, he said.

Meanwhile, hundreds of unapproved part-time teachers belonging to Vocational Teachers State Action Committee, who went on a day-long fast in Chennai today, urged the state government to regularise their service by fixing basic pay and time scale.
