Hearing concludes on Lalu's discharge petition

Patna, Sep 5 (UNI) Hearing on discharge petition of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in a multi-crore fodder scam case concluded today before special CBI Judge of Patna Muni Lal Paswan.

While concluding his argument, counsel of Mr Prasad said there was no material in the case to frame charges against his client in the case.

The Judge also fixed September 12 for hearing on the discharge petition of former state minister of Animal Husbandary Department (AHD) Vidya Sagar Nishad, an accused in the case. The CBI would reply later.

The case was related to fraudulent withdrawals of above Rs 46 lakhs from Bhagalpur and Banka treasuries in AHD. The FIR was registered in 1996.

Meanwhile, final hearing in the disproportionate assets case pending against Mr Prasad and his wife former Chief Minister Ms Rabri Devi continued before the same designated Judge today.

The next hearing in the case would be held on September 7.
