Govt to provide water for irrigation projects : Reddy

Hyderabad, Sep 4 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajsekhara Reddy today said the Government would provide water to all backward regions in the state by completing the pending irrigation projects.

Participating in the felicitation programme of Professor P G Shastry, Chairman of the Committee for environmental clearance of irrigation and Hydro power projects, Dr Reddy said the government has taken steps to provide water for irrigation projects.

Stating that the government was taking steps to utilise the surplus water of the Krishna and Godavari rivers, he said the water would also be utilised to irrigate all waste lands in Rayalaseema and Telangana backward regions.

The State Major Irrigation Minister P Laxmaiah and other officials also participated in the programme.
