Durga temple to close during Lunar eclipse

Vijayawada, Sep 5 (UNI) The famed Sri Durga Malleswaraswamy Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri will be closed on September seven due to Lunar eclipse.

Informing this to UNI, a devasthanam official said the temple would be closed from 1300 hrs on September seven to 0300 hrs, the next day.

After purification of goddess Kanakadurga, the temple doors would be opened and pilgrims would be allowed for darshan from 0500 hrs on September eight, he added.

The Brahmarambika Mallikarjuna Swamyvari devasthanam at Srisailam would be closed from 1430 hrs on September seven to 0430 hrs, the next day. Similarly, the Sitaramachandra swamy temple at Bhadrachalam would be closed on that day from 1400 hrs to 0400 hrs, he said adding that the devotees would be allowed for darshan after 'consecrating' the idol.

The lunar eclipse commencing from 2330 hrs on September seven would end at 0100 hrs, the next day.
