Dr Batra ties up with Stevens Trichology

Ahmedabad, Sept 5 (UNI) Dr Mukesh Batra's Positive Health Clinics has signed an agreement with the renowned Stevens' Trichology Practices of London to bring in world-class hair treatment to India.

Addressing mediapersons on behalf of Dr Batra here today, Dr Bindu Sharma from the corporate office Mumbai, said that the tie-up would help in value additions for our patients. What is alarming is that the age of the patients is coming down drastically and even children of 5 years have been treated for hair loss, she said.

The Ahmedabad clinic, started in 2003, had only 9 per cent patients with hair problem which went up to 20 per cent in 2004; to 30 per cent in 2005 and finally to 43 per cent at present, Dr Sharma said. ''This is a whopping 1,338 per cent rise in patients with hair problem,'' she added.

As we have seen from the patients who come to our clinic, there has been 62 per cent rise in the age group of 21-35 years; 24 per cent in 11-20 years while 57 per cent are from service sector, Dr Sharma said.

''Many people think that hair problems are cosmetic which in fact is a health problem as well. Examining the texture, colour and tensility of hair can help determine problems related to nutritional status, gynecological ailments, hormonal imbalance and many more.'' Pointing out the root cause of hair problem, Dr Sharma said hard water and high stress level were the chief contributory factors. In Ahmedabad the hard water contains TDS at 1500 mg per litre while the permissible level is 500 mg/litre, three times the normal.

The second factor is smoking and chewing tobacco. Imbalance in diet due to junk and fast food has created nutritional deficiencies in the people here leading to several health problems. Jaundice cases also leads to hair loss, she added.

A second clinic is being opened by the end of September 2006 here where TDS in water is at whopping 1600 mg/litre, Dr Sharma said.

The treatment in homeopathy is holistic- without hair transplantation-and we take care of the anxiety factor. It takes anywhere from one to two years and sometimes three years for complete cure, Dr Sharma said. Dandruff is tackled within few months, she added.

''So far 10,000 patients have been treated in our clinic here in the last three to four hears,'' Dr Sharma said.
