3 policemen go missing during expedition in Kargil
Kargil, Sep 5 (UNI) At least three policemen have gone missing and as many wounded while on an expedition in this border district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said today.
They said a group of 19 policemen left for a one- month expedition from Parkarcihk in Panikhar area to Nunkun on August 12.
The sources said the group was caught in heavy snowfall between Zanskar and Sanko areas of this district.
They said while 16 policemen were rescued, three have gone missing. They have been identified as Mohammd Issa, of fouth Batallion of Indian Reserve Police (IRP), Sonam Wangwal of IRP's 9th batallion and Tsring Narboo of IRP's 9th Batallion.
Of the 16 policemen rescued 3 have been admitted to hospital here with snow bites.
They have been identified as Ramsing of PCR Jammu, Vikram Singh of IRP's 12 Batallion and Charan Singh of IRP's 4th Batallion.
Rescue operation have been launched to trace the missing police personnel, the sources added.
